A private binding of six of Kiplings "Railway Stories", named as such as they were written, in the 1880s, for sale across the Indian Railway network. Hugelysuccessful at the time they each ran to many editions with the early ones now particularly scarce. This binding contains :-

The Phantom Rickshaw, No.5., 3rd Edition

The City of Dreadful Night, No.14., Edition not specified

Wee Willie Winkie, No.6., Edition not specified

In Black and White, No.3., Edition not specified

Soldiers Three, No.1., 4th Edition

The original wrappers are also bound in with the exception of the front of Wee Willie Winkie. The contemporary binding (1880/90s) is straight and tight, the boards clean and still bright with a couple of marks and a little wear at the extremes, and the endpapers and pages are clean withoutsignificantmarks, tears or inscriptions.

The wrappers were not of the greatest quality paper and frequently are not found with these bindings.

Will be carefully packaged wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
